About Kelly

Kelly has an Associate’s Degree in Legal Studies from Champlain College in Burlington, VT and is a Certified Personal Trainer through American College of Sports Medicine.  She is a personal trainer who is Barre Above Certified, Barre Intensity Trained, Stott Pilates Mat, Reformer & Chair trained and holds a SCW Mat Pilates Certification and a SCW Certificate in Nutrition, Hormones & Metabolism.  She is also certified as a Precision Nutrition Coach.

Kelly's Philosophy

I first met Kelly when she advertised a “Boot Camp” in a nearby park years ago.  I signed up thinking that I could survive a few weeks trying something new (coming from someone who has attended maybe 5 workout classes in her life!). The Boot Camp was amazing. While it pushed my limits, I never felt like I was at the point where I didn’t want to come back. And that’s the philosophy that I found that Kelly shares – working out doesn’t have to kill you for it to be effective! I’ve worked out with Kelly on and off for years now and always recommend her to those looking for a gentle push in the right direction. Kelly will work with you on whatever your goals are – whether it’s for that day or for the next several weeks/months/years. She’s happy to combine whatever techniques are needed – pilates, barre, weight-training, or cardio – and will personalize your workout each time. Nutrition questions? She’s happy to help with that too! I appreciate that Kelly is always learning and taking into account her client’s individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never worked with a personal trainer, what can I expect?

The job of a personal trainer is to help you set realistic fitness goals and help you achieve them.  I take a woman’s lifestyle, fitness level and personality into consideration when formulating a workout plan for her. 

What should I expect at our first meeting?

I provide a complimentary first session so that we can meet and see if our personalities fit.  I do not want you to make an investment without seeing what you are purchasing first.  We will meet for approximately 30 minutes or more.  For ten minutes, we will discuss your lifestyle and fitness goals.  For the last 20 minutes, I will take you through a basic workout to assess your fitness level.

I’m uncoordinated and out of shape, will I be able to perform the movements?

I chuckle because everyone believes they are uncoordinated and to a certain extent, we all are.  All my workouts are basic movements and if I see you are struggling with a movement, I will simplify it so that you can move more freely and concentrate at the task at hand.  No judgment.

What package should I choose?

After our first session, we will discuss which package may be a good fit for you based on your goals.  However, if you are ready to purchase a package without a consult and you do not see a package that meets your needs and/or pocketbook, please reach out to me and I will customize a package just for you. 

Do you help with nutrition?

First of all, I will stress I am not a registered dietician so I am limited on what kind of advice I can offer regarding nutrition.  However, after my own experiences and ten years in this field, I have a wide range of knowledge regarding nutrition and I can direct you to several resources so that we can find a nutrition plan that would be a suitable fit for you.  I also provide accountability and coaching surrounding food journaling. 

What makes Fit Impressions different?

I pride myself in providing a safe, warm and loving environment for women to train in.  I provide one-on-one training and guidance in wellness and nutrition like no other small fitness boutique in the area.  Each of my clients receives guidance based on their unique needs and lifestyle and that is what sets me apart from other facilities.

Do you provide workouts for me to do at home?

At request, I will provide workouts for you to perform at home once I feel that you are able to perform them safely. 

After I purchase a package, what happens next?

After you purchase a package, I like to set up a recurring day and time for us to train every week.  I feel that by keeping the same schedule, it keeps both of us on track.  Of course, I understand that different events pop up and we may need to reschedule from time to time but overall I prefer to keep us on the same schedule.

What Will my workouts be like?

Every client’s workouts are different. I cannot stress that enough.  However, I do like to keep all of you guessing as to what we will be doing every session. One day we may be doing strength training with heavier weights and the next day we may be at the Barre performing little reps with 2 pound weights.  I also sometimes will throw clients on the pilates equipment even if they have not purchased a Pilates Pack.  Basically, it’s a little bit of a mood thing for me and what I think my client would benefit from that day.
